Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 at Kaplan United Methodist Church honoring the life of Brenda Charleene Montgomery Skinner, 66, who passed away quietly at her home in Kaplan. The services will be conducted by Reverend Larry Maxwell, pastor of the Kaplan United Methodist Church, and Pastor Dwayne Bourgeois of The Family Church in Lafayette. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Montgomery, William Montgomery, F. Stan Hardee Jr., Frank Stanton Hardee III, Brenton Bankston, Wade Mouton and O.H. Deshotels III.
Charleene graduated from Kaplan High School in 1961 and attended Centenary College and ULL.
She was a voracious reader, a lover of animals and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Pablo. She was best known for her kind and generous heart and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Stephanie Skinner of Lafayette and their children, Lillian and Owen; her daughter, Stephanie Touchet, and her daughter, Aja, also of Lafayette; and her brother, C.J. Montgomery III and his wife, Donna of Dove Creek, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorene and C.J. Montgomery Jr. of Kaplan; and her former husband, Donald M. Skinner Jr. of Destin, Florida.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, December 31, 2010 from 10 a.m. until funeral service.
