Whitney "T-Whit" Simon

December 1, 1925 — January 6, 2011

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Leroy honoring the life of Whitney Joseph Simon, 85, who died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at Leroy Cemetery with Reverend Gregory Simeon officiating the services.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elgine Landry Simon of Leroy; two sons, Hurby Simon and his wife, Joan of Kaplan and Keith Simon "Popeye" and his wife, Linda of Tyrone, Georgia; one daughter, Annie Lou and her husband, Larry Abshire of Kaplan; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amaduce Simon and the former Edith Hebert.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6 p.m.; Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
