Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Robert John Langlinais, 81, who died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Abbeville General Hospital.
At 17, Bobby left
Abbeville for a brief stint in the Navy and was stationed in the South China Sea. He then acquired his commission at Southwest Louisiana Institute before embarking on a 22-year career in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Thule, Greenland; Istanbul, Turkey; Frankfurt, Germany; Shreveport, Louisiana and Riverside, California, among other stations.
After retiring, Bobby returned to Abbeville where his passions included golf, hunting, fishing, dominoes, cards and LSU football.
He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Rev. Keith Landry officiating the Mass and Deacon Randy Hyde officiating the Service.
Pallbearers will be Robert J. Langlinais, Jr., Robert J. Langlinais III, David Langlinais, Charles Langlinais, James Langlinais and John Dickson.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Landry Langlinais; two sons, Robert John Langlinais, Jr. and his wife, Rhonda of Humble, TX and David Pierre Langlinais and his wife, Brenda of Dallas, TX; one daughter, Mary Robin Dickson and her husband, John of Buda, TX; one brother, Rodney Langlinais of Abbeville; and five grandchildren, Tre' Langlinais, Colton Langlinais, Camille Dickson, Catherine Dickson and Juliette Langlinais.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke Langlinais and the former Therese Landry; and twin brother, James Langlinais.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
