Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Jean Francis Ashley, 74. On Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:25 a.m. the Lord saw Jean getting weary, he took her in his arms and brought his angel safely to her heavenly home.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services.
Mrs. Jean Francis Ashley was born on November 22, 1936 in Jeanerette, LA to the union of Gerald and Ethel Lewis Francis. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Jean was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Abbeville, LA. Jean was a homemaker, who enjoyed being home with her children and then taking care of her grand and great-granchildren.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her loving memories six sons, Edward (Zina) Campbell of Lacey Washington, Arthur (Sundra) Campbell of New Iberia, LA, Rickey Campbell, Ronald (Monique) Campbell, Barry Campbell and Joe (Jodie) Ashley, Jr. all of Abbeville, LA; one daughter, Stella Francis also of Abbeville, LA; two sisters, Lonnie (Wilton) Gibson of Jeanerette, LA and Harriet (Herman) Anthony of St. Martinville, LA; a godchild, Laverne Ashley. She also leaves to cherish her memories 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends who realize that earth has no sorrows the Heaven cannot heal.
Preceding her in death are her loving parents, Gerald and Ethel Lewis Francis; her husband, Joe Ashley, Sr.; two sisters, Octave "Suzie" Alexander and Beatrice Bernard Eaglin; and four brothers, Clifton, Milton, John and Gerald Francis, Jr..
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m.
