Lenis Joseph Simon

February 28, 1929 — February 3, 2011

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, February 7, 2011 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Lenis Joseph Simon, 81, who died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at his residence.

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Scott DesOrmeaux officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Chris Primeaux, Clint Primeaux, Coty Primeaux, Ashley Simon, Matt Hebert and Doug Hebert. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Palombo and Dane Abshire.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel B. Simon of Abbeville; one son, Rusty Simon and his wife, Cheryl of Abbeville; two daughters, Diane Abshire and her husband, Todd of Cow Island and Tammy Abshire and her husband, Jason of Forked Island; two brothers, Forest Simon of Meaux and Vernis Simon of Lafayette; sister, Anna Lou Palombo of Broussard; grandchildren, Chris Primeaux, Clint Primeaux, Coty Primeaux, Angie Simon, Ashley Simon, Amber Celestino, Katy Abshire, Renee' Abshire, Robyn Abshire, Matt Hebert, Doug Hebert, Peggy Hebert and Dane Abshire; and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Deussard Simon and the former Melonie Roy; daughter, Peggy Simon Primeaux, son-in-law, Wildie Primeaux, Jr.; and brothers, Paul Simon and James Lee Simon.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, February 7, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
