Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2011 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Billie Joyce Bullock Smith, 81, who died Friday, February 4, 2011 at Abbeville General Hospital.

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Jared Suire officiating the services.


Billie was born in Evangeline, LA. She was a native of Jennings, LA and was a resident of Maison du Monde Nursing Home in Abbeville, LA.


She is survived by her one son, John C. Smith and his wife, Cleo of Abbeville; two daughters, Peggy Doxey and her husband, Oran of Abbeville and Faye Libersat and her husband, Kim of Henry; long time friend, Winnie LeGros; grandchildren, Jennifer Doxey of Abbeville, Sarah LeBlanc and her husband, Eric of Lafayette, Tiffany Libersat of Henry and Jeremy Libersat of Henry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Smith; parents, John Bullock and the former Leona Hurst; brothers, Leonard Bullock and Milton Bullock; and sister, Peggy Jean Bullock.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, February 7, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Maison du Monde Nursing Home staff, Drs. Lahasky, Schexnaider, Harrington and Miller, the nurses of the ICU, and 3rd floor of Abbeville General Hospital for their gentle care.
