Kaplan—Home going services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Chapel honoring the life of Mary Pilette Smith, 77, who died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Clint Trahan officiating the services. Active pallbearers will be Russell Hebert, Wayne Brown, Melvin Gauthia, Jarrod Francis, Clifton Richards, Heath Morrison and Leroy Favworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Smith, Leroy Celestine, Tommy Reaux, Kenneth Brown, Jesus Roy, Russell Saddler, Mark Gauthia, Steve Brown, Michael Jackson, Jalen Jennings and Blaire Caldwell.

Mary Pillette was born in Erath, Louisiana to the union of Ernest Pillette and Edna Celestine on May 1, 1933. She was a resident of Kaplan, Louisiana when she departed on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. She was an employee of Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital where she retired after 21 years of service. She was also a parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Chapel.

Mrs. Smith leaves in God's hands her loving daughters, Julia Gauthia (Melvin) of Jackson, Tennessee and Lenora Sinegal (Russell) of Kaplan; stepson, Thomas Reaux of Kaplan; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Clayonna Pillette; one brother-in-law, Wallace Smith; one uncle, Leroy Celestine; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Celestine; father, Ernest Pillette; husband, Wilbert Smith; one son, Joseph Smith; one brother, Harold Pillette; one sister, Helen Brown; one niece, Barbara Brown; and one aunt (who raised her) Beulah Montgomery.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Chapel, 901 N. Frederick Avenue, on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 7:30 a.m. until time of services with a rosary and reflection at 10 a.m.
