Virgie Lee Veazey

February 28, 1935 — February 12, 2011

Pecan Island—Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church honoring the life of Virgie Lee Veazey, 75, who died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at American Legion Hospital. She will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, John Veazey of Pecan Island; three sisters, Vannesa Bertrand of Crowley, Vera and her husband, Larry Poole of Florida, and Brenda Nunez of Florida; four brothers, Whalen Bertrand and his wife, Debra of Pecan Island, Willard Bertrand of Crowley, Harold Bertrand and his wife, Eva of Lake Arthur, and J.C. Bertrand of Kaplan; one stepbrother, Jerry Lege Sr. and his wife, Squeaky of Pecan Island; two grandchildren, Caleb Lege and his wife, Angie and Kelli Lege of Lafayette; and three great-grandchildren, Kristen, Gavin and Cydni Lege.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome Bertrand and the former Elvie Guidry; a son, David Lege; her first husband, Chester Lege; one brother, Walter Bertrand; one sister, Margie Clement; and her stepmother, Clara Bertrand.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pecan Island, on Monday, February 14, 2011 from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m.; Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 8 a.m. until services.
