Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Lovelace Paul "Black" Meaux, 89, who died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon David Vaughn officiating the services.
Mr. Meaux was a lifelong resident of Kaplan. He was a retired Vermilion Parish rice and cattle farmer. He was also a United States Army veteran who proudly served our country during World War II. Mr. Meaux was also a longtime coach of Kaplan Little League baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ethel Mae Hebert Meaux of Kaplan; one son, Ronald P. Meaux and his wife, Carolyn of Abbeville; two grandsons, Kerry A. Meaux and his wife, Michelle Lynn of Winter Garden, Florida and Kristopher A. Meaux of New Orleans; and one great grandson, Logan C. Meaux of Winter Garden, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simeon Meaux and the former Agnes Broussard; and one granddaughter, Keri Angela Meaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Monday, February 14, 2011 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 8 a.m. until services.
