Ulysse Trahan

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Ulysse Trahan, 93, who died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Perry, Chris Perry, Jonathan Perry, Michael Neil Trahan II, Tyler Trahan, and Andrew Trahan. Honorary pallbearer will be Donald Clostio.

Mr. Trahan was a World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam veteran, retiring from the Army after 24 years of service. He went on to work as a nurse at the Kaplan Clinic and then worked at Abbeville General Hospital, where he retired again. He loved spending time in the garden, wood carving and carpentry work. He spent the rest of his life traveling throughout the United States.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marguerite Clostio Trahan of Kaplan; one son, Michael Neil Trahan I and his wife, Judy Lynn LeBlanc of Abbeville; two daughters, Marguerite "Penny" Trahan of Kaplan, and Marion Lucy and her husband, Russell Prados of Kaplan; one sister, Lenes Decuir of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Todd, Chris and Jonathan Perry, Bridgit, Deidre and Michael Neil Trahan II, Dawn Stelly and Nicole Girouard; as well as, sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Numa Trahan and the former Olita Meaux; one sister, Felicia Hebert; two brothers, Joseph and Ophe Trahan; as well as, his uncle, Reme Meaux and his wife, Amelia, the couple that raised him.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for church.
