Catherine (Katy) Hardin Young

Survivors include: her two children, Janet Chauvin and her husband Donald Chauvin from Abbeville, LA and David Young and his wife Christine Young from Denham Springs, LA; one sister Anita Fowler from Jackson, Mississippi; seven grandchildren - Todd Chauvin, Pam Trahan, Kimberly Etie', Brandon Young, Clayton Chauvin, Jessica Clark, Shane Young, and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harlan Ray Young, Jr.; parents, Moscow Lamar Hardin and the former Carrie Busby Hardin; brothers Durand A Hardin, Marvin L Hardin, Reeda H Hardin, Odis F Hardin, and Ferris L Hardin; and sisters Maggie L Hardin, Elma E Hardin, Alma C Hardin, Rosa L Hardin, Minnie Raye Hardin, and Mildred G Hardin.
“Katy” Young was originally from Ellisville, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Moscow Hardin and Carrie Busby Hardin. She and her husband resided in Abbeville, LA from 1951 to 1964. She was a dog groomer in Franklin, La. for 11 years and then resided in Crowley for 14 years. She loved gardening, reading, country music, traveling, eating boiled crawfish, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her so dearly!
Pallbearers will be Brandon Young, Shane Young, Shawn Etie', Marshall Trahan, Cato Clark, and Todd Chauvin. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Chauvin, and Matt Lackie.
The family wishes to thank the outstanding services provided by Eastridge Nursing Home and Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care of Jennings for the sensitive care provided over the past two months.
The family request that visitation be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville on Sunday, February 27 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, February 28 from 8:00am until time of service. Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of all arrangements and is located at 209 S. St. Charles, Abbeville, LA.
