Olton Nick Noel

July 4, 1922 — March 4, 2011

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Olton Octave "Nick" Noel, 88, who died Friday, March 4, 2011 at peacefully at his home.

He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Deacon Randy Hyde officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Lovelace Greene, Jr., Walter Greene, Walter Jack Leggette, Gary Noel, Michael Detraz and Elphege Mouton, III. Hononary pallbearers will be Samuel Greene, Jarrod Broussard and Louis Noel.

Nick was a member of the Louisiana Cattlemen's Association, Vermilion Parish 4-H Club Foundation, Vermilion Parish Vermilion Parish Cattlemen Association and Louisiana Rice Council. He served as a board member of the Louisiana Rice Growers Association and Cattlemen Association.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his private sitters and Heart of Hospice.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eve Amelia Greene Noel of Abbeville; two sisters, Gertrude LeBorde of Marksville and Mable Lyons of Jackson, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Henry Noel and the former Elizabeth Griffin; eight brothers, Whitney, Elwood, Walter, Henry, Harold, R.C., Wilford and Lawrence "Snow"; three sisters, Elda Reed Jeanmard, Stella Leggette and Ella Mae Theriot.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary to be recited at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, March 7, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
