Eda Potier Istre

August 3, 1922 — March 8, 2011

Gueydan—Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Eda Potier Istre, 88, who died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Jason Vidrine officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney J. Breaux Sr., Rodney "Rody" J. Breaux Jr., Rus Bourque, Horace Matthews Jr., Ashley Lormand and Bryce Baudoin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Lormand, Marty Lormand, Percy "Poopy" Lormand III, Joseph "Joe" Baudoin, Josh Trahan and Keith Rabalais.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara I. Breaux and her husband Rodney Breaux Sr. of Gueydan and Ella Vallo of Crowley; two sisters, Edith Bertrand and Theresa Touchet, both of Gueydan; twenty-seven grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie J. Istre; her parents, John Potier and the former Ella LaPointe; one daughter, Marie Lormand; son, E.J. Istre; three sisters; five brothers; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; continuing Thursday, March 10, from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church. A rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7 p.m.
