Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, 2007 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Catholic Church honoring the life of Elita M. Miller, 88, who died April 25, 2007 at Abbeville General Hospital. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Elita was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her most enjoyable times were cooking for her family and spending time with them. She is survived by her husband, Humer L. "Hugh" Miller of Abbeville; two daughters, Joanna (Simon) Cormier and her husband Arnold of Carencro and Annette (Simon) Broussard and her husband Willien of New Iberia; three stepson, LaVere A.Simon and his wife Kathy of Glenn's Ferry, Idaho, Darrell Miller and his wife Marie of Groves, TX and Charles Glenn Miller of Nunez; grandchildren, Erica (Cormier) Hargrave and her husband Lance of Carencro, Erin Cormier of Weston, Florida and her fiancee Marc Pavao, Kelly Scott Broussard and his wife Sandy of Youngsville, Kasey Jude Broussard and his wife D'Anna of Baton Rouge, Lori McBaine of Boise, Idaho, Kris Morris of Sela, Washington, John Simon of Boise, Idaho, Jason Simon and his wife Jennifer of Boise, Idaho, Eric Miller and his wife Brooke of Groves, Texas and Amanda Miller of Groves, Texas; great grandchildren, Tyler and Lindsey Hargrave, Ana Broussard, David and Cassie McBaine, Taylor, Simon and Kylie Morris, Kerry and Jack Simon, Zoie Simon and Tessah and Jada Miller; one sister, Rita M. Toups of Abbeville; sister-in-laws, Beulah Moore of Abbeville, Norrine Moore of Bellingham, Washington, and Billie Simon of Kaplan; one brother-in-law, Hubert A. Simon of Groves, Texas; godchildren, Rita Gayle Hebert, Hayes Boudreaux and Linda Rhodes; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Moore, Jr. and the former Anna LeBlanc; three brothers, Elie, Alton "Dick" and Gilbert Moore; first husband, John Roy Simon; and grandchildren, Jordan Morris and Kathryn Ann Broussard. Elita was a former nurse having worked at the Palms Hospital and for Dr. Marion Young. She was a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church and belonged to the Ladies Altar Society. Also a member of Lay Carmelites and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Thursday, April 26th from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, April 27th from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
