Joel Roy Howard

August 6, 1961 — March 20, 2011

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Joel Roy Howard, 49, who died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his residence in Kaplan. Reverend David Broussard will be officiating the services.

Mr. Howard was part-owner of Comeaux's Cafe (C.C.'s ) in Abbeville and Comeaux's Produce and Plant Nursery in Kaplan. He was a member of the Kaplan Area Chamber of Commerce, the Beautification Committee for the city of Kaplan and was very involved in various city projects.

He is survived by his life partner, Russell Comeaux of Kaplan; five sisters, Jennifer McLane of Kaplan, Janet Marino of Apopka, Florida, Jessica Medly of Jacksonville, Florida, Judith Sachs of Casselberry, Florida and Joan Frey of Seattle, Washington; and one brother, James E. Howard Jr. of Hazlehurst, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward Howard Sr. and the former Virginia Lee Martin; and one brother, John Michael Howard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church service.
