Vernice Joseph "V.J." Meaux

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Vernice Joseph "V.J." Meaux, 73, who died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at LTAC of Acadiana. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon David Vaughn officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Drake Meaux, Robert Dartez, Roland Dartez, Colbert Guidry, Kelly Meaux and Nick Habetz.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Brenda B. Meaux of Abbeville; two sons, Wesley Meaux of Abbeville and Andrew Meaux of Lake Charles; one daughter, Marrissia Guidry of Kaplan; one sister, Wilma Adams of Kaplan; six grandchildren, Drake Meaux, Jardin Meaux, Keisha Meredith, Stephen Ebarb, Laranda Schexnyder and Colbert Guidry; and three great grandchildren, Hannah Meredith, Cara Meredith and Laken Schexnyder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Deomile Meaux and the former Delusca Foreman; one brother, Senua Meaux; and three sisters, Evelyn Hargrave, Verdie Dartez and Annie Mae Primeaux.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Saturday, April 23, 2011 from 9 a.m. until services. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.
