Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of John Donald Greene, 77, who died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Blaise Istre, Daniel Greene, Dylan Greene, Kim Trahan, Carl Meaux and Chris Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordy Broussard, Randy Harrington, and Sammy Greene.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Guidry Greene of Kaplan; one daughter, Donna Istre and her husband, Brian "Yogi" of Gueydan; two sons, Darrell Greene of Kaplan and David Greene and his wife, Denise of Kaplan; two sisters, Mary Faye Meaux and Gertrude Trahan, both of Kaplan; four grandchildren, Blaise Istre, Lauren Greene, Daniel Greene and Dylan Greene; and one great grandchild, Joshua Fontenot.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Greene and the former Rose Broussard; and one grandchild, Shaun Fontenot.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, April 24, 2011 from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, April 25, from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
