Lawrence Broussard

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Lawrence Broussard, 76, who died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Abbeville General Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon Paul Roy Eleazar officiating the services.

He was a member of the Kaplan Lions Club for over 40 years, having twice served as president and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2913 for over 30 years where he was a 4th Degree Knight. Mr. Broussard also served as president of the Kaplan Food Bank twice.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Delores G. Broussard of Kaplan; one son, Brian Schexneider of Hammond; two daughters, Catherine and her husband, Richard DiGiovanni of Lumberton, Texas and Donna and her husband, Michael Taylor of Forked Island; four grandchildren, Cody Hebert, Angel Schexneider, and Richard and Megan DiGiovanni; three step-grandchildren, Misty, Dana, and Michael Taylor; and seven step-great grandchildren, Hannah and Madison Hebert, Jackson Romero, Jye and Kennedy Rankin, and Tyler and Colby Bancroft.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Broussard and the former Marie Arabie; one son, Lawrence Broussard Jr.; and one grandchild, Aaron Michael Taylor.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession departs for church.
