Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Vernice Bourque, 89, who died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Heritage Manor of Abbeville.
She will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Joseph Breaux officiating the services.
She is survived by her son Perry "Jimmy" Bourque and wife, Carolyn of Kaplan; five daughters, Dolores Bussas of New Iberia, Betty Perkins of Abbeville, Anna Lou Decuir and husband, Jerome of Youngsville, Verna Sonnier of Scott and Faye Broussard and husband, Kent of Abbeville; sister, Earledean (Dean) Trahan of Abbeville; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Bourque; daughter, Dianne Bourque; grandson, Richard Menard; great grandchildren, Corey Gaspard and Macey Menard; parents, Laodise and Olive Pontiff Lapointe; sons-in-law, Tommy Primeaux, Dave Bussas and Leonce Gaspand; brothers, Harris Lapointe, Simonent Lapointe, Sidney Lapointe, and Lurphy Lapointe; sisters, Anna L. Menard, Ena L. Luquette, Noila L. Meaux, and Naomie Trahan.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
