Helen Vice Palombo

March 1, 1940 — May 9, 2011

Abbeville—Helen V. Palombo, 71 of Lafayette, Louisiana passed away Monday May 9th at Lafayette General Hospital. Helen battled with her second bout with lung cancer.

Helen was born the third child of Eddie J. Vice and Edith Marie Richard Vice on March 1st, 1940 in Abbeville.


Helen is survived by her sons Frank C. Palombo and his wife, Aleesha of Mobile, AL and Tony Palombo and his wife, Karen of Cedar Park, TX; her grandchildren Sabra Smith of Port Allen, Ary Lauran Palombo of Navarre, FL, Trey Palombo of Navarre, FL, Kaylee Palombo of Cedar Park, TX and Ashley Palombo of Cedar Park, TX., her brother Richard Vice of Abbeville, her niece Glinda Duhon, cousins Emily Duhon, Douglas Duhon, Jackie Thibodeaux, and Jimmy Thibodaux and friends Wayne and Sandra Hebert, Betty Boyd, Dot Menard, Monte Credeur, Kermit Sonnier, and Debbie Theall. Also her beloved animal companion Todd for his unconditional love during her battle with cancer.

Predeceased by her husband Francis Palombo and her brother, Eddie J. Vice, Jr. and her sister, Jeanette V. Vincent and parents, Eddie J. Vice and Edith Marie Richard Vice.

Visitation will be at Vincent’s Funeral Home from 8:00 AM-10:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 11 and from 8:00 AM until mass at 2:00 at St. Mary Magdalene Church.

Pallbearers will be Frank Palombo, Tony Palombo, Ford Leblanc, Woody Leblanc, Kermit Sonnier and Harold Duhon. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Hebert and Trey Palombo.

The family would like that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Association. The family would like to thank Dr. Victoria Panelli and the staff of Lafayette General Hospital’s 8th floor oncology wing.
