Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, 2011 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church in Esther, LA., honoring the life of Amelia Cessac Hoffpauir, 98, who died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Abbeville General Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at St. James Cemetery with Father Emmanuel Fernandez officiating the services.
Mrs. Hoffpauir was a retired school techer, spending most of her career at Meaux School, she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was the former owner of Dupuy's Oyster Shop in Abbeville. She had a great passion for painting, sewing, flower gardens and fishing.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith H. Vincent of Abbeville, Carole H. Niebler and husband Arthur of Abbeville and Sue H. Bridges of Lafayette; one sister, Evelyn Megison; sister-in-law, Jeanette Cessac; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Hoffpauir; her parents, Antoine Cessac and Zulma LaPlace Cessac; two brothers, Henry Cessac and Antoine Cessac, Jr.; three sisters, Celeste Lacour, Gertrude Hebert and Theresa Sherer; one infant son, Michael Hoffpauir and a son-in-law, Warren Vincent.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m.; Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
