Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Lula Mae Trahan, 85, who died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at her residence.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Scotty Touchette and Donald M. Paul. Honorary pallbearers will be Hayes Boudreaux and James Lee Trahan.
Lula Mae grew up in Abbeville and worked as a carhop during her teen years at Moores Drive-Inn and later as a waitress at Moores Restaurant and Shady Oaks in Abbeville.
After retiring from waitressing, she and her husband Galbert moved to Morgan City for approximately fifteen years then returned to Abbeville to be near family and friends.
She is survived by her only daughter, Deanna Romero Boudreaux and her husband, Hayes James Boudreaux of Lafayette; a step son, James Lee Trahan (formerly of Maurice) and his wife Karen who now reside in Sea Grove , Florida; two lovely granddaughters, Kimberly Boudreaux Paul and Elizabeth Boudreaux Touchette. Kim is married to Donald M. Paul of Lafayette and Elizabeth is married to Scotty M. Touchette of Carencro. There are four lovable great-grandchildren, Donald Christopher Paul (9), Grace Katherine Paul (5), Dylan Michael Touchette (6) and Logan Hayes Touchette (4).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Galbert Trahan and her first husband, Evier Romero of Erath. Her parents were Joseph Eraste Primeaux and Evela Blanchette Primeaux of Abbeville. Her only brother, E.J. Primeaux, and his wife, Jula Mae.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m. and Monday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Deanna woul like to thank Acadian Home Health and Louisiana Hospice for their care and assistance. A extra special thank you must go to sitters who handled things so well, especially Debbie Baudoin, Lisa Delcambre, Helen Foreman and Cynthia Gautreaux. They were angels.
