He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Prompt Saccor with Deacon Cody Miller officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Gene Knight, Jimmy Smith, Matt Miguez, Jake Miguez, Dusty Meyers and Keith McMullan.
John enjoyed spending time riding and training horses.
He is survived by his fiance, Betty Richard of Abbeville; sons, Richard Gaudet and wife Tonia of Houston, TX and Calvin Gaudet and companion Vicia Heat of Abbeville, Gene Knight of Abbeville; daughter, Deborah Miguez of New Iberia, Mandy Knight of Abbeville and Norma Dautreuil and husband Dwight of New Iberia; brother, Charles Joseph Pellerin, Jr. of New Iberia; two sisters, Linda Anna Tuohy of Nederland, TX and Myrtle Marie Poland of Winnie, TX; grandchildren, Nicole McMullan and husband Keith, Kim Michelle Meyers and husband Brian, Holly Gary and husband Murphy, Shauna Estis and fiance Nolan Bonin, Laci Miguez, Matt Miguez and fiance Heather Latiolais, Jake Miguez, Alexis Gaudet, Taryn Gaudet,Tyler Gaudet, Amber Gaudet, Zack Gaudet, Mason Gaudet, Brianna Knight, Max Knight, Austin Knight, Jesse Dautreuil, Brandi Dautreuil; great-grandchildren, CJ Maturin, Nicholas Maturin, Mackenzie Maturin, Dusty Meyers, Abbey Meyers, Brayton Gary, Lane Estis, Londyn Bonin, Talyn Cooper, Kadyn Cooper, Elleyana Miguez and Easton Miguez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Joseph Gaudet and the former Marie Vera Chargois; son, Kern Gaudet; and three brothers, John Warren Gaudet, George Joseph Gaudet and Irvin Joseph Gaudet.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
