Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Kaplan Baptist Church honoring the life of Sidney Paul Meaux Jr., 52, who died Monday, May 16, 2011 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Nunez Baptist Cemetery with Reverend Noah Langley officiating the services.

He is survived by one son, Sidney Paul Meaux III of New Iberia; two daughters, Crystal Barzare and her husband, Caleb of Church Point and Tonia Meaux of Abbeville; his mother, Joyce R. Meaux of Kaplan; three sisters, Marlene Farris and her husband, Timmy of Kaplan, Melinda Harrington of Nunez, and Joyce Touchet and her husband, Eldridge of Forked Island; two brothers, Richard Meaux and his wife, Sadie of Kaplan and Freddie Meaux Sr. of Gueydan; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Paul Meaux Sr.; one sister, Cindy Meaux; and maternal grandparents, Doris and Rena Reed.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Kaplan Baptist Church - Kaplan, 400 N. Trahan Avenue, on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.; Wednesday, May 18, from 8 a.m. until services.
