Douglas Macarthur Whitaker

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Douglas MacArthur Whitaker, 69, who died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his residence in Pensacola, FL.

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Watkins and Rev. David McClanahan officiating the services. Pallbearers include Kyle Watkins, Dwain Reeves, Tyler Reeves, Randy Jefferson, Ricky Herring, Dusty Strong, Rick Simmons and Gregory Bietz.

He is survived by his wife Mary Sue Reeves Whitaker of Colorado City, TX.; son Mike Whitaker; stepchildren Dwain Reeves, Debbie Eaton, Denise Simmons and Denette Reeves; a sister Joy McClanahan and her husband David of Perry; Twelve Grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Vernon Whitaker, his mother, Anna Maie Monk Whitaker, brothers, Edward Clark Whitaker, Delbert Dwayne Whitaker,Vernon Wayne Whitaker and two sisters, Dorothy Whitaker and Joyce Whitaker.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will reopen on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
