Carlton Joseph Stelly

July 2, 1931 — June 30, 2011

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at a 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Carlton Joseph Stelly, 79, who died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at his residence.

He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Tawana Stelly, Ronnie Stelly, II, Rick Coleman, Drake Broussard, Keith Hebert and Doris Ray Hebert.

He is survived by his wife, Vergie Frederick Stelly; one son, Ronnie D. Stelly and his wife Marilynn "Louise" of Abbeville; two daughters, Gleeda Coleman and her husband Rick and Carlene Marie Stelly all of Abbeville; one brother, Clifford Stelly and his wife Joyce of Forked Island; one sister, Marie Aline Lege and her husband B.J. of Forked Island; three grandchildren, Tawana Stelly, Ronnie Stelly, II and Alisha Trahan; five great grandchildren, Claire Gondron, Drake Broussard, Jeren Broussard, Dereck Stelly and Mikaela Stelly; and three step great grandchildren, Angelo Galarza, Joshua Galarza and John Michael Broussard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lodias Stelly, Jr. and the former Lelia Hebert; granddaughter, Rene' Trahan; and brother, Harvey Stelly.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 3:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, July 1, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
