Velma Rita Ledet Plaisance

September 19, 1923 — June 28, 2011

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, July 4, 2011 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Velma Rita Ledet Plaisance, 87, who died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Plantation Personal Care Home.

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Ashley Plaisance, Bobby Joe Hebert, Jimmy J. Dent, Benji Meaux, Don Mitchell Hebert and Ronnie Hebert.

She is survived by her two sons, William Wayne Plaisance and his wife Conda of Lockhart, TX and Dwight David Plaisance of Baytown, TX; daughter-in-law, Patricia Plaisance of Houston, TX; two sisters, Myrtis L. Dent and Delores L. Meaux all of Abbeville; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Evans "Billy" Plaisance; parents, Eugene Ledet and the former Annie Bergeron; son, Michael Lee Plaisance; three brothers, Sterling Ledet, Raymond Ledet and Emery Ledet; and three sisters, Ledora Hebert, Lillian L. Broussard and Wilda L. Guidry.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, July 3, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, July 4, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.

In lieu of flowers the family as that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
