Marion Joseph Marceaux

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Marion Joseph Marceaux, 67, who died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

Marion was an employee of Vermilion Bank and Trust Company for many years, beginning his banking career as a teller and eventually becoming one of the bank’s vice presidents. Marion was also president of the Bankers Association and he and his wife travelled to conventions in Missouri, Minnesota, Arizona and Puerto Rico, among others. Upon his retirement at Vermilion Bank he began a career as a driver for Limousines Limited for over ten years. His other calling in life was with the Knights of Columbus in Kaplan. Marion was elevated to Grand Knight serving with a second and fourth degree level in the organization. He was also a member of the Kaplan Lions Club. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Cabrini Parish in Kaplan where he was an usher.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda Gail Meaux Marceaux of Kaplan; his brother, Rixby Marceaux Jr. and his wife, Rita Hebert Marceaux of Kaplan; his godchild, Harold John Marceaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rixby Marceaux Sr. and the former Irene Broussard; his maternal grandparents, Otis Broussard and the former Anita Trahan; and his paternal grandparents, Eraste Marceaux and the former Marie Schexnider.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, July 24, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, July 25, from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
