Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Estelle Broussard LeBlanc, 96, who passed away peacefully on September 14, 2011 at her home in Abbeville.
Interment will be in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery Mausoleum (off the old Kaplan Highway behind Vermilion Catholic School) with Reverend William C. Blanda officiating the services. Pallbearers will be her nephews: Jimmy Vincent, Preston Vincent, Jules Vincent, Louis Kendall Broussard, Weldon Broussard, and her godchild Leroy Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law: Ernie Trahan, Gene Moore and Claude Hebert.
A native of Milton and a resident of Abbeville, Mrs. LeBlanc was born on September 14, 1915. She was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, her rosary group, and retired teachers association. She was a 1933 graduate of Milton High School and UL (formerly USL and SLI) with a degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career in Chenier Au Tigre, later in Gueydan, and the majority of her 34 years were at Forked Island Elementary School. She enjoyed her many years of travel after retirement, family gatherings and meetings with the Lay Carmelite group and her rosary group friends, and most of all attending mass.
She is survived by her son: Jeffrey and his wife Cheryl, three daughters: Claudette Trahan and her husband Ernie, Ramona Moore and her husband Gene, and Patricia Hebert and her husband Claude; two grandchildren: Chad LeBlanc and his wife Noelle and Jill Ortego and her husband Darren; four great grandchildren: Jaron Ortego, Hailey Pitre and her husband Matt, Andrea Seigrest and her husband Jonathan, and Kassidy Ortego; and one great great grandson: Ayden Pitre; one sister: Margaret Una Thibodeaux and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Claude LeBlanc, parents: Elizé Broussard and Alicia Schexnaider Broussard, brothers: Edgar, Dudley and Wilsey Broussard, sisters: Deluska Broussard and Agnes Vincent.
The family would like to especially thank her caregiver, Lydia Milliman.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Randy Hyde and a second rosary by members of her rosary group on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.; Friday, September 16, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
