Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Vermilion Gospel Tabernacle Church honoring the life of Mr. Melvin R. Sistrunk, 67, who died at his residence in Abbeville. Following the services in Abbeville, Mr. Sistrunk will be transported to the Mitchell Community Center in Mitchell, LA. Visitation will begin in Mitchell on Saturday, July 7, 2007 8:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Mitchell Community Cemetery in Mitchell, LA. Mr. Sistrunk is survived by his wife, Mrs. Deanna Guidry Sistrunk of Abbeville; 4 sons, John Sistrunk and his wife, Christina of Harvey, La.; Gregory Sistrunk and his wife, Nicole of Jeanerette, LA.; Robert Sistrunk and his wife, Joanna of Wright, LA., and Michael Sistrunk and his wife, Cassandra of Longview, TX, 2 daughters, Sarah Doggett and her husband, Paul of Cypress, TX. and Luci Campbell and her husband, Brian of Delcambre, a brother, Charles Sistrunk of Bellville, TX, 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Floyd Sistrunk and Gertha Lucille Ryales Sistrunk, 4 brothers, J.L., Marshall, Raymond and David Sistrunk and 1 sister, Helen Westbrook. Visitation in Abbeville will be in the Vincent Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5, 2007 from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume Friday, July 6, 2007 at 8:00 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St. Suite #200, Lafayette, LA 70503, in Mr. Sistrunk name.
