Abbeville—Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Joseph Edward Broussard, 63, who died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at his residence.
He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend William C. Blanda officiating the services.
Mr. Broussard served in the Vietnam Era and was awarded a Combat Medal of Valor. Eddie, known by many as "O.J.", loved interacting with friends, especially participating in pool game and leagues. An avid fan of football and baseball, "O.J." could be found at game time watching his favorites play.
He is survived by his father, Joseph Dudley "Bruce" Broussard; sisters, Rose Anna Trahan and husband Mike, and Mary E. Broussard; sister-in-laws, Lisa Ledet Broussard and Jeanne Meaux Fontenot; two nieces, Amanda Trahan Vienne and husband Benji Vienne, and Clare Broussard; and two great nieces, Parrish and Ellis Vienne all of Abbeville.
He was preceded in death by mother, Sable Landry Broussard; wife, Annick Meaux Broussard; brothers, Neal Broussard and Reynold Dan Broussard; and brother-in-law, Michel Meaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 300 Pere Megret Street, on Friday, October 14, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.
