He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Scott DesOrmeaux officiating the services. Pallbearers will be David Foster, Cain Vallot, Daniel Frederick, Brandon Frederick, Paul Desormeaux and Joshua Desormeaux.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, JoAnn Frederick Picard of Abbeville; daughter Debra P. and her husband, John C. Foster of Abbeville, daughter Karen P. and her husband, Paul Desormeaux, of Abbeville; and five grandchildren, Nicole Hebert, David Foster, Ashley Foret, Eric Foster and Erin Foster and a brother, Loybert Picard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa Picard and the former Cecile Morvant, sisters, Ada Picard Baudoin and Grace Picard Trahan, brothers, Dewey Picard, Samuel Picard, Shelton Picard, Ashby Picard and Lewis Picard.
The family would like to acknowledge the staffs of Acadian Home Health of Abbeville and Hospice Compassus of Lafayette. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Jennifer and Karl Wagenfuhr for their many acts of kindness and prayers as well as Marquita Henry for providing compassion, care and comfort to Mr. Picard during his final moments.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services with a rosary to be recited at 1:00 p.m.
