ABBEVILLE - After 87 years of living life on his own terms, Dr. Robert J. "Sonny" Young, Jr. has lost the final battle against time. Dr. Young died peacefully in is home on the Vermilion River on November 1, 2011. Dr. Young will be interred in St Paul Cemetery on Monday, November 7, 2011 following a mass of
Christian burial at St. Mary Magdalene Church at 10 o'clock.
Visitation will be at St Mary Magdalen Church one half hour prior to the service for those wishing to come.
Because Dr. Young insisted on no eulogy there will be no mention of his 50 some odd years as a physician in Vermilion Parish. Nor will there be any talk of his life as a hunter, fisherman, farmer, boatsman, aviator, family man, or general lover of life. It is hoped that he will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Broussard "Koddy" Young and his four children: Robert J. "Chip" Young, III and his wife, Becky; Chris Young Trahan and her husband Joe; Ginger Young Hebert and her husband Mike; and Andy Young and his wife, Nancy.
