Raywood Mayard

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011, at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Raywood Mayard, 82, who died on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at his home in Esther. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul's Cemetery with Fr. William Blanda officiating the service.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilda Mayard of Esther; his son, Joseph W. Mayard and his wife, Felice Mayard; his daughters, Christine Theriot and her husband, Bob Theriot, and Mary Breaux and her husband Patin Breaux; seven grandchildren, Andrew M. Machen, Jennifer Frick, Zachary X. Breaux, Raywood Stevens, Emma Jean Guillory, Stanley Theriot and Theresa Rose Mayard; and five great-grandchildren, Ian Frick, Ava Theriot, Caleb Theriot, Charlotte Machen and Tula Guillory.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Sue Hollier; his parents, Joe and Coralie Mayard, twin brother Raymond, and brothers Dudley and Wilbur Mayard.

He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. An avid fiddle player, he worked at Mayers' Hardware Store, Landry's Store, and owned Ray's Appliance Service in Abbeville for many years.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph W. Mayard, Stanley Theriot, Raywood Stevens, Andrew Machen, Zachary Breaux, and Brent Frick.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, November 4, 2011 from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
