Richard Raymond Hardy

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend John Vining officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Edward Maine Hardy, Edward James Suire, Michael Ryan Suire, Brett Hunter Adams, James Moore and Kale L. Breaux. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie James Suire, Chris Anthony Hardy, Kayne Breaux, Brannon Bodin, Keith Simon, Dokota and Cherokee Moore.
A native of Abbeville and resident of Abbeville, Mr. Richard will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a great great grandfather.
A very generous soul, he served his country during the Korean War while in the U.S. Army. Through out his life he had multiple occupations. He was part owner and manager of Trans Gulf Sea Plane Service in New Orleans for many years. Also, he owned and operated Hardy's Shoe Store, Inc. in Abbeville for 23 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Isabelle Chauvin Hardy of Abbeville; his son, Brett Hunter Adams and wife Kisha of Abbeville; his daughters, Mona Rae Hardy of Abbeville, Marilyn Hardy and Keith Simon, Marlene H. Suire and husband Ronnie James Suire of Erath, Maxine Hardy of Abbeville and Stacia M. Adams and Chris A. Hardy of Lucedale, MS; three grandchildren, Crystal Marie S. Breaux and husband Kade Louis Breaux; Edward James Suire and Michael Ryan Suire of Erath, and three great grandchildren, Kayne Mathew Breaux, Gabrielle Paige Gallet, and Brannon Jude Bodin and great great granddaughter, Breiana Rae Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Billiot and Pierre Albert Hardy; two brothers, Mitchell "Mitch" Hardy and Joseph "Joe" C.D. Hardy; four sisters, Eva Rose H. Sonnier, Mary Bourque Lampman, Gloria H. Roussell and Josie H. Roussell; one granddaughter, Krista Rae Hardy; and grandson, Hunter Paul Adams.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, November 7, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and will resume on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
