Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2007, at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Josephine "JoAnn" Ann Russo, 80, who died July 19, 2007, at her residence. JoAnn was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church. She was also a member of the American Legion - Gold Star, a graduate of Mt. Carmel, and a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican College. She was retired from Union Oil Company of California with over thirty years of dedication. JoAnn was devoted to her Catholic faith and was faithful in the Adoration Chapel. She was recently awarded the St. Joseph's Medal for her contribution perpetuating the Italian heritage in Acadiana. She is survived by her brothers, Raymond Daniel "Kotchie" Russo, William Charles "Bubba" Russo, brother-in-law Paul "Paddy" Bourgeois, and sisters-in-law, Joyce Hebert Russo and Patricia Fratesi Russo. Also surviving "Nannie" are her nieces and nephews, who she considered as her children, Michael Russo, Joseph Russo, Richard Russo, Carlos Russo, Janice Macomber, Paul Bourgeois, Robert Russo, Tina Russo Rowe, James Russo, Ann Russo Glasco, Christopher Russo, Susan Russo, David Russo, Russell Russo, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph David Russo and Caroline Corrado Russo; three brothers, David Joseph Russo, Peter Salvator Russo, and Robert Earl "Robie" Russo, Sr.; one sister, Theresa Bourgeios Russo; two nieces, Karen Russo Place, and Julie Bourgeios Baier; and one nephew, Peter Lawrence Russo. Pallbearers will be David Russo, Russell Russo, Christopher Russo, Paul Bourgeois, Joseph Russo, and Robert Russo. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Russo, Carlos Russo, and James Russo. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville. Sunday, July 22nd from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; and resume on Monday, July 23rd from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be sent to Mt. Carmel Elementary, AbbeviJle, LA or to a charity of choice.
