Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Dewey Cormier, 92, who died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.
He is survived by three daughters, Beverly C. Ardoin of Lafayette, Sylvia C. and her husband Etienne O. Hardy and Helen C. and her husband Darvey Dupuis all of Kaplan; five grandchildren, Laurie Belanger of Jennings, Paul Ardoin and his wife Janet of Lafayette, Rachel and her husband John Viola of Scott, Chuck Gaspard and his wife Felicia of Abbeville and Rob Gaspard and his wife Lisa of Abbeville; two step-grandchildren, Michel Hardy and his wife Terry of Walker, Louisiana, Cheryl H. and her husband Jason Newman of Vermilion, Ohio; seven great grandchildren, Danielle B. Broussard, Gretchen Gaspard, Callie Gaspard, Jacob and Julia Ardoin, Victoria Viola and Gabriel Gaspard; seven step-great grandchildren, Tyler and Trey Hardy, Logan and Garrett Luquette, Lance Newman, Drake and Brailey Joubert; and two great-great grandchildren, Aubrey Lane Broussard and Kensley Nicole Castille.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle C. Cormier, parents, Gabriel Cormier and the former Olita Landry, two brothers, Willis and Ides Cormier and one son-in-law, Joe "Bud" Ardoin.
The Cormier family would like to extend thanks to the staff and nurses at Heart of Hospice, “too many to mention”, Caregivers, Rose LeBeouf, Teresa Huntsberry, Bert Rudd and Lois Marceaux and a special thanks to Loretta “LoLo” Cain.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, January 11, from 8 a.m. until services.
