Phillip Morris Ognibene, 92, died on August 12, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. He was laid to rest in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville conducted the funeral arrangements. He is survived by one brother, Joseph Ognibene of Abbeville; one sister, Leona Ognibene of Abbeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Ognibene and the former Francis Graffeo; and siblings Frank Ognibene, Victor Ognibene, Angelo Ognibene, Paul Ognibene, Jennie Abate and Annie Moore. In 1941 Phillip enlisted in the Army and received his basic training at Camp Shelby in Mississippi with the Maintenance Engineering Company. He also served our country during World War II. His tour of duty included North Africa, Italy, and Nice, France. He was the owner and operator of Phillip's Body Shop.
