Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Delta Richard Corner, 93, who died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Mason De Goodwill.
She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend William C. Blanda officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Rick Thibodeaux, Brad Thibodeaux,
Keith Hebert, Jay Davidson, Greg Campo and Scott Benoit. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Corner and Bryan DeHart.
Delta was a 1936 graduate of Mount Cramel. She was an outstanding cook and loved baking she won many cooking/baking competions. She was a finalist in the Pillsbury National Bake Off, The National Beef, The National Chicken and nearby area festivals. She was the 1st Chef De Rice at the Crowley Internation Rice Festival.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Corner and wife Charlotte; daughter, Yvonne and husband Kenny Thibodeaux; brother, Delton Richard; sisters, Rita Mouton, Nedia Nunez, Jean Hebert and Mary Richard; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amson "Slim" Corner; parents, Louis Richard and the former Nedia Chaisson; three sisters, Rose Meaux, Joyce Falcon and Laura Cabrol; and two brothers, Wilton Richard and Pervis Richard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
The Corner family would to thank Hospice Compassus for the care they provided to their mother. Also a special thank you extended to her sitters, Angus Kilchrist, Harriett, Shantel Robertson and other sitters.
