Rodney Richard

August 16, 1939 — January 25, 2012

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Friday, January 27, 2012 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Rodney Richard, 72, who died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at his residence in Kaplan. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Shea Vidrine, Jake Vidrine, and Joseph Doucet, and nephews, Coby, Brett, ad Scott Richard.

Rodney and his wife, Brenda owned and operated Coast to Coast Home & Auto in Kaplan for over 35 years. Rodney was a volunteer fireman for the Kaplan Fire Department for many years. He was also a lector at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and an active member and past president of the Kaplan Lions Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Charmaine Vidrine and her husband, John of Crowley and Tammy Doucet and her husband, Ned of Kaplan; four grandchildren, Shea and Jake Vidrine of Crowley and Joseph and Bella Doucet of Kaplan; and two brothers, Dale Richard and his wife, Debbie of Kaplan and James Richard and his wife, Sandy of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Brenda Primeaux Richard; parents, Preston Richard and the former Winnie Hebert.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Friday, January 27, 2012 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
