Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 3:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Mr. Edias Joseph Monteaux, 88, who died at his residence in Abbeville.
He will be laid to rest at the Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Erath, LA.
Mr. Monteaux was a loving and compassionate husband and father who will be remembered for his huge sense of humor. He was a Mr. Fixit around the house, loved gardening and cast netting with his wife at Rockerfellor Refuge. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army during the Normandy invasion. A member of the American Legion of Erath Post # 279. He retired from the Hwy Department after 19 years as a bridge operator, prior to that he was a carpenter in the Abbeville area.
Mr. Monteaux is survived by his wife and best friend of 62 years, Lula Marie Menard Monteaux; a daughter, Deanna “Dee” Monteaux Charpentier and husband Shelton of Lafayette; and two sisters, Elta May Monteaux Petry of Cow Island and Mary Lou Monteaux Hebert of Kaplan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emile and Eve Bourque Monteaux; six brothers, Aldes, Eulis, Felton, Elton, Raywood and Gene Monteaux; and two sisters, Evia Monteaux Landry and Ammia Monteaux.
The family request that visitation be held at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville on Monday, August 20, 2007 from 12 noon till 10 pm, and reopen on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 10 am till service time at 3 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7 pm Monday.
