Lena Meaux "Moma Dear" Abshire
August 19, 1922 — February 3, 2012
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers were Mitchell Frederick, Gilliam and Gregory Hebert, Kodi Istre, Andrew Trahan and Paul Cessac.
Mrs. Abshire is survived by one brother, Adam Meaux of Abbeville, three daughters, Mary Frederick and husband Pressley "Buck" Frederick of Baton Rouge, Barbara Hebert Istre and husband C.J. Istre of Abbeville, and Laura Lormand Menard of Abbeville; eleven grandchildren, Mitchell Frederick and wife Lynn Frederick of Baton Rouge, Mark Frederick of Shreveport, Rebecca Frederick of Baton Rouge, Laurie Hebert of Abbeville, Gilliam Hebert of Abbeville, Gregory Hebert of Shreveport, Christina Hebert of Baton Rouge, Claudia Hebert Adamczyk and husband John Adamczyk of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Kodi Istre of Abbeville, Lauralee Lormand Trahan and husband Michael Neil Trahan II of Abbeville, and Catherine Lormand DeGregorio and husband Charles DeGregorio of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; thirteen great grandchildren, Heather and Matthew Frederick, Jackie Hebert, Allen and Brooke Saltus, Daniel and Jaime Adamczyk, Kylie Messa, Tyler, Andrew, John Michael, Katie and Ashlee Trahan and Lauren and Gabrielle DeGregorio and one great-great grandchild, Kyle Frederick -Bourgoyne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton J. Abshire; her parents, Fernest and Angelique Meaux; five brothers, Etienne, Isadore, Romain, Eddie and Thomas Meaux; four sisters, Angela, Aline, Zoe and Colastie Meaux; and two son in laws, Steve Hebert and John Foster Lormand.
Visiting hours were observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Saturday, February 4, 2012 8:00 a.m. untill time of services.
