Mercedes "Ann" Abshire

September 3, 1942 — February 18, 2012

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Mercedes Abshire, 69, who died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Abbeville General Hospital. She will be laid to rest at Cossinade Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Norman Abshire of Kaplan; two sons, Jimmie Abshire and his wife Jerita of Kaplan, Chris Abshire and his wife Rebecca of Kaplan; one sister, Elizabeth and her husband Gregory Cart of Gueydan; six grandchildren, Gabriele Vincent, Marcus Clark, Colby Hargrave, Brandi Moe, Nicole Hebert and Jonathon Prudhomme and one great grandchild, McKaine Frederick.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Abshire, her parents, Preston Jules Dartez and the former Marjorie Hebert and one brother-in-law, Darryl Potier.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, February 20, from 8 a.m. until services.
