Shelby David Jackson

April 11, 1926 — August 27, 2007

ABBEVILLE- Funeral services will be held at 1 :00 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Vincent Funeral Home honoring the life of Shelby David Jackson, 81, who died August 27, 2007 at Abbeville General Hospital. Reverend Dall Eden will officiate the services. David was born in Utila Honduras. He moved to the United States at a young age. David and Margaret "Tut" Pere' were married in 1963. David and "Tut" moved back to Abbeville from New Orleans and started a crawfish and catfish bait business in which he served many fisherman from the Vermilion area. David was a stranger to no person he met. He helped many fisherman through rough times and was a firm believer in the "Cajun Lagniappe" way of life. He always gave a little more than he had to. Even when he was at the end of his long illness his eyes would light up when "Tut" walked in the room. Although David's greatest love for the last 40 years was "Tut" he never lost his love for his hometown of Utila Honduras and the easy way of life down there. Au' Revoir my friend, have a great journey until we meet again. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret Pere' Jackson; three sons, Damen Jackson of Gretna, Bailey Jackson of Utila and Shelby David Jackson of Miami; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death py his parents, Dewey Jackson and the former Ivy Wood; one brother, John Jackson; and two sisters, Anzie Eden and Ada Griffith. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Wednesday, August 29th from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Thursday, August 30th from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
