Jacob Glen Veazey

August 31, 1927 — March 17, 2012

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pecan Island, honoring the life of Jacob Glen Veazey, 84, who died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.

He will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with Fr. Keith Landry officiating the services. Pallbearers will be James Veazey, Bryan Veazey, Gerald Veazey, David Veazey, Matt Cieslak, Brett Broussard and Adam Girouard.

Mr. Veazey retired from Exxon after forty four and a half years of service. He was President of Federation (Exxon Employee), member of Vermilion Parish Cattlemans Association, and was an avid hunter and cattleman. Glen served three years in the Merchant Marines during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Ina Broussard Veazey; three sons, James Veazey and wife Virginia, Bryan Veazey and wife Linda and Deryl Veazey and wife Michelle; four grandchildren, Jamie Veazey Girouard and husband Adam, Bethany Veazey Broussard and husband Brett, Tasha Veazey Cieslak and husband Matt and David Veazey and wife Connie; seven great grandchildren, Andrew Broussard, Claire Broussard, Charly Veazey, Jacob Cieslak, Juliet Cieslak, Lily Anne Veazey and Lane Girouard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysse and Eileen Veazey; six brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter, Stacy Veazey.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and Monday, March 19, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
