Family and friends will gather for a mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church in Esther, Louisiana on September 4th 2007 honoring the life of Henry A Petry.
"Bubby" finally found peace and passed over to eternal life at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana on Friday August 31st. He suffered a stroke in 1995 and fought valiantly until suffering a heart attack and developing congestive heart failure. Bubby, 57 passed away in the presence of his loving family.
He will be sadly missed but remembered fondly with a smile and love by all who knew him.
Bubby was born and raised in Mouton Cove and always had a great love for hunting and fishing. He started out as an oil field welder and then became a self- employed welder. Although his vocabulary was limited following his stroke, you were sure to get a "Hey!" and "Aw Yeah!" any time he saw you around town.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Susan Beauxis Petry; his son Adam of Youngsville; his two daughters, Amy Petry Broussard, wife of Chuck Broussard of Meaux and Ashley C. Petry of Abbeville; his great love, 4 grandchildren, who will miss their "Pop" terribly, Camryn Anselmi, Jacie Mera, Hailey and Collin Broussard; his mother Elta Monteaux Petry of Mouton Cove; one brother Johnny Petry, married to Marsha Detraz Petry of Mouton Cove; two sisters, Glenda Petry Menard, married to Ronald Menard of Kaplan, and Dollie Petry Foreman, married to Chris Foreman of Mouton Cove; one uncle, Carl Petry of Mouton Cove; his nanny, Mary Lou Monteaux Hebert of Kaplan; his sitter, for the past ten years, Pearl Marceaux and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elrod "Pete" Petry; his maternal grandparents, Emile Monteaux and Eve Bourque Monteaux; and his paternal grandparents, Henry Petry and O'Dollie Cessac Petry.
Bubby's family would like to extend special thanks to Health Works of Abbeville especially Libby, Dr. Kevin Courville, his cardiologist, the wonderful nurses and CNA’s in the MICU unit on the fourth floor of OLOL, the nurses and CNA's on four central, the nurses and CNA's on OLOL's fifth floor, Shelly and Matthew with Heart Hospice who supported and encouraged Susan in her time of need; and, thanks to family and friends who called often “just to check”.
Visitation for Bubby will begin at 9:00am at St. James Catholic Church in Esther, a rosary at 10:30, and mass to follow.
Father Joseph Stemmenn a long time family friend who visited and supported Bubby and Susan through all of their medical tribulations is conducting funeral services.
