Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Percy J. Manceaux Jr., 75, who died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Kendal Faulk officiating the services.
Mr. Manceaux assumed office as Kaplan City Marshal in 1996. His prior law enforcement included six years at the Kaplan Police Department. Mr. Manceaux was a member of the National Constables and Marshals Association, as well as, the Louisiana City Marshals Association. He was also a member of the Lions Club and served on the council for AARP. He was a 4th Degree Knight and served as past treasurer of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by one son, Randall Manceaux of Kaplan; three daughters, Donna and her husband, John Kelley of Brewton, Alabama, Kathy and her husband, Bobby Mire Sr. of Kaplan and Jackie and her husband, Joe Adams of Kaplan; two sisters, Leverda Callahan and Lezida LaPoint, both of Kaplan; one brother, Roland Manceaux of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Travis Mire of Kaplan, Bobby Mire Jr. of Kaplan, Joseph Kelley of Florida and Amber Burllard of Alabama; six great grandchildren, Hilary, Hunter, Hayes, Dalton, Trace, and Deanne; and one great-great grandchild, Cadence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Joseph Manceaux Sr. and the former Larris Dartez.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, April 2, from 8 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
