Alyne Thomas - Matt

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at a 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Alyne Matt, 90, who died Monday, April 2, 2012 at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette.

She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Hampton Davis officiating the services.

She served for nearly 25 years as receptionist for St. Mary Magdalen.

She is survived by her two sons, Charles Christopher Matt (Michelle) of San Antonio, TX and James Thomas Matt (Kazuko) of Sapporo, Japan; four daughters, Celeste Matt Moss (Michael) of Baton Rouge, Lisa Matt Simmons of Baton Rouge, Marguerite Matt Landry (Patrick) of Lafayette and Alexis Matt Darbonne (Steve) of Lafayette; twenty grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mathias Louis "M.L." Thomas; mother, Leonie Marchand Thomas; four brothers, Louis, Lester, Allen and Alfred Thomas; and two sisters, Ruth Latour and Marjorie Kirkpatrick.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m., and at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 3:30 p.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Hospice of Acadiana, or to Our Lady Queen of Peace Fire Fund (Fr. Hampton Davis' church parish in Lafayette which is rebuilding after a devastating fire).
