Gean Trantor

January 27, 1928 — April 8, 2012

Abbeville—Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Campti Cemetery in Center, TX, honoring the life of Melba Gean Trantor, 84, who died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Landry, Chad "Bubba" Landry, Roy Landry, James Trantor, Colt Landry and Dustin Dronet.

Mrs. Trantor was always a stong willed and resilient woman. She devoted her life to taking care of her family. Gean loved cooking family meals and having everyone around the table eating. No one ever left her home without her offering them a plate of food and a glass of her sweet iced tea. No one was ever a stranger in her home. She also loved listening to Gospel Choir Music. She also treasured her collections of family photographs.

She is survived by her husband Harry Trantor of Abbeville; two sons, Roy E. Trantor and his wife Debra Primeaux of Erath and Joseph E. Trantor of Abbeville; three daughters, Cynthia Landry and her husband Kelly of Kaplan, Donna R. Trantor of Abbeville and Kandice Duhon and her husband Jerome of Lafayette; two brothers, W. Henry Potts and Johnnie Potts; one sister, Jimmie Malone, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by by her father, J.W. Lawrence, her mother, Jewel O.Potts, step-father Frank R. Potts, a son, Harry J. Trantor, Jr., Brothers, Ralph Lawrence and Frank C. Potts, a sister, Frances L. Frederick and a grandson-in-law, Lt. Brandon R. Dronet.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.; graveside services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Campti Cemetery in Center, TX.

Mrs. Trantor’s family would like to extend great appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff on the ICU and Oncology floors at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Also a heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for the respect and compassion showed to her and her family in this difficult time.
