Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14, 2007 at a 2 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Catholic Church honoring the life of Russell P. Hebert, 72, who died September 11, 2007 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette. He will be laid to rest at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Kaplan with Father Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Bubba Champagne, Shane Hebert, Shawn Hebert, Roddy Trahan, Todd Trahan and Mahlan LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne Duck, Terrill Vaughn, Pat Landry, Kevin Meyers and Rusty Hebert. Russell was a self employed plumber for 40 years and a retired school bus driver for 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beverly Abshire Hebert; one son, Rusty Jude Hebert and wife Darlene of Lafayette; three sisters, Audrey LeBlanc of Abbeville, Priscilla Peltier and husband Morris of New Iberia and Barbara Palombo and husband Alfred of Lafayette; two brothers, Lewis Hebert of Abbeville and Peter Hebert and wife Phyllis of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deausar Hebert and the former Unez Landry; two brothers, James Larry Hebert and an infant brother, Roy Paul Hebert. Russell was not only a lover of people; he was also a great lover of animals. He especially loved his two dogs, Fozzy and Coco. They shared his heart and his lap. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Thursday, September 13th from 11 :30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, September 14th from 8:00 am. until 1 :45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
